MY BOARD

9th

set Sept. 3

Conner Weigman has 205.7 half-PPR points in seven games, 29.4 a game. Among the 24 quarterbacks in Underdog's player pool who have played at least seven games in our box-score data, that is fourth, level with Ashton Daniels at 29.4, behind West Virginia's Michael Hawkins Jr. (36.4, his spotlight) and Gio Lopez (29.5).

The number I care about is not the average. It is the floor. His lowest game of the year is 17.4 points.

Where he went in drafts

His ADP was 23.3, the sixth quarterback off the board and a second-round pick. My preseason board had him 9th overall, 14 spots ahead of the room. I own him on two teams: pick 21 in a Best Bowl Mania draft and pick 26 in The Tailgate. Neither of those teams has another Houston player.

Two of sixteen is 13%. With my board 14 spots ahead of the room, that is light.

The seven games

Week 1, Oregon State, a 33-20 win on Sept. 5: 20 of 30 for 305 yards, a touchdown and an interception, 9 carries for 30 yards and a touchdown. 24.2 points.

Week 2, Southern, a 77-6 win on Sept. 12: 9 of 12 for 120 yards and three touchdowns, on only 12 attempts. 17.4 points, his low.

Week 3, at Texas Tech, a 28-26 loss: 27 of 38 for 282 yards and three touchdowns, 13 carries for 56. 26.9 points. It is Houston's only loss.

Week 4, at Georgia Southern, a 42-28 win on Sept. 26: 17 of 22 for 239 yards and four touchdowns, 6 carries for 14 yards and two more scores. 39.0 points.

Week 5, UCF, a 27-17 win on Oct. 3: 18 of 33 for 239 yards and no passing touchdowns, but 13 carries for 50 yards and three rushing scores. 32.6 points.

Week 6, at Kansas State, a 35-16 win on Oct. 10: 19 of 30 for 242 yards and four touchdowns, 6 carries for 21. 27.8 points.

Week 7, Oklahoma State, a 35-32 win on Oct. 17: 24 of 33 for 343 yards and five touchdowns, matching his career high, plus 11 carries for 52 yards. 37.9 points. The AP recap (Oct. 17) has Houston at 6-1 and 3-1 in the Big 12, gaining 505 yards, with Amare Thomas catching two touchdowns.

The number that matters: 20 touchdowns, 2 interceptions

He has accounted for at least two touchdowns in every game, 26 in total: 20 passing and 6 rushing. The Oklahoma State game was the loudest, but the UCF game is the one that tells you more. He threw no touchdowns, ran for three, and scored 32.6 points anyway.

Compare it with last year. In our 2025 box scores for Houston (13 games) he threw for 2,705 yards, 25 touchdowns and 9 interceptions at 7.6 yards an attempt. This year it is 8.9 yards an attempt through seven games.

The running has gone the other way: 53.8 rushing yards a game last year, 32.7 this year. The points now ride on his arm, which has held up: 20 touchdowns and no game under 17.4 points.

How I count the carry share: his rushes divided by every rushing attempt Houston logged in the ESPN box scores, sacks included. That is 59 of 291, 20.3%.

What to be careful about

Houston is 6-1, and the one loss came in a game where he threw three touchdowns. His lowest score of the year, 17.4, was a 71-point win in which he threw 12 passes. Blowouts cap his volume, and Houston has had one.

Two interceptions in 198 attempts is also a rate that can move. One bad game with three of them would change the way the season reads.

WEEK 13

A road trip to Colorado, then a visit to Morgantown where Hawkins's West Virginia is at home, then Baylor at home in the final week. Houston's Week 8 game is at Utah.

Verdict: more of him in my next drafts

These are Underdog best ball teams. Nothing gets traded or dropped, so the verdict is about what I do in my next drafts at this price.

My board liked Weigman more than the room did and I still drafted him twice. The seven-game floor of 17.4 is the best argument for owning more. In my next drafts I would take him in the second round whenever he is there.

What would change my mind

If No. 11 Utah (per the AP recap) holds him under 200 passing yards and he runs fewer than five times, the first seven games came against a softer slate than his totals suggest.

If the interceptions stack up, the 20-to-2 ratio was a run of good luck and the price was closer to fair.
