If you look up Cam Edwards on ESPN's season stats page, you would think he has not played. If you look at his game log on the same site, he is a top-10 fantasy running back two weeks in. The game log is right.
He has 43.7 half-PPR points in two games, 21.9 a game. That ranks 7th among the 158 running backs in Underdog's player pool who have played two games in our box-score data. The market drafted him as the 44th.
As of Sept. 17, ESPN's stats page for Edwards shows his 2026 season under Western Illinois, with 0 carries and 3 catches for 36 yards. His 2025 line on the same page is his UConn season.
His ESPN game log tells the real story, and it matches both box scores:
Week 1, Toledo, a 30-20 win on Friday, Sept. 4: 27 carries, 98 yards, 1 touchdown, 2 catches for 7 yards (ESPN box score).
Week 2, Eastern Michigan, a 35-7 win on Sept. 12: 21 carries, 152 yards, 2 touchdowns (from 1 and 2 yards), 1 catch for 5 yards, and a lost fumble (ESPN box score).
There is a second Cam Edwards: one caught a pass for Western Illinois at Wisconsin on Sept. 12 (ESPN box score). My best read is that ESPN's season total has credited his line to the wrong Cam Edwards. I cannot confirm that from the outside, but the season page and the game log on the same site plainly disagree, and the game log agrees with the box scores. If you use season-total pages to screen for backs, he is invisible right now.
Edwards has 48 of Michigan State's 94 rushing attempts, 51%: 27 of 49 against Toledo and 21 of 45 against Eastern Michigan. In both games no other Spartan had more than seven.
How I count it: his carries divided by every rushing attempt Michigan State logged in the ESPN box scores. College stats count sacks and kneels as runs, so his share of designed running back carries is higher than 51%.
What he is not doing is catching passes. He has 3 of Michigan State's 44 catches, 7%. His points come from carries and short touchdowns, which is a fine profile as long as the carries stay this concentrated.
He came from UConn, where he ran for 1,240 yards and 15 touchdowns on 210 carries last season, per ESPN. Michigan State has used him as its lead back in both games, which is the role that season earned him.
I took him on six of sixteen teams, right at ADP. My preseason board had him 138th, a little below the market, which is close enough that I read it as the board and the room agreeing.
Two weeks in, a back drafted as RB44 is scoring like a top-10 one. That gap will close some. How much depends on what happens next.
Both games were against MAC teams at home. The next three are the real test: at Notre Dame on Sept. 19, Nebraska, then at Wisconsin.
The encouraging part is Week 1. The 27 carries came in a 30-20 game, not a blowout, so the workload was not garbage time.

WEEK 13
at Rutgers
Two home Big Ten games and a road game at Rutgers. None of them is soft, and a lead back on a team that may be trailing in Week 12 needs the carry share to hold when the script turns.
These are Underdog best ball teams. Nothing gets traded or dropped, so the verdict is about what I do in my next drafts at this price.
A back with half his team's carries and three touchdowns, drafted as RB44, is exactly what I want at pick 124. I would take him at that price again every time he was there.
If his carry share falls under 40% at Notre Dame and against Nebraska, the first two games were Michigan State running out the clock on MAC teams, and he is a committee back against real defenses.
If he holds near half the carries against those two, the ESPN page is the only thing still hiding him.
